At DeEtta Jones and Associates (DJA), our connection to libraries is deep and personal. Our founder, DeEtta Jones, spent a decade at the Association of Research Libraries, where she laid the groundwork for Diversity Initiatives and served as the Director for Leadership and Management Services. During these formative years, DeEtta wasn’t just an advisor—she was immersed in the world libraries across the U.S., Canada, and beyond. From keynote presentations to strategic consultations, DeEtta has worked in collaboration with libraries, library association and consortia in Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, gaining invaluable insights into the unique dynamics and challenges of libraries worldwide.
With a commitment to libraries that goes beyond consulting, DeEtta helped to create some of the most influential programs in the field. Together with library leaders, she co-founded and led transformative initiatives such as the ARL Leadership and Career Development Program, the ARL Leadership Fellows Program, and was lead faculty on several others including NLM/AAHSL Leadership Fellows Program, BLC Leads, and the Minnesota Institute for Early Career Librarians from Traditionally Underrepresented Groups. These programs are cornerstones of professional development in the library world, designed to cultivate the next generation of library leaders.

Our work is driven by the same passion that led DeEtta to collaborate on programs like the ARL HR Symposium and the University of Arizona Library’s Living the Future Conference. Participants are introduced to each of the five disciplines within the context of libraries. The content and practical application are presented and explored in a library context. |
